Lessons
Q & A
When do you offer lessons?
We offer lessons Monday through Saturday. We
are open for lessons until 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, until
6:00 PM on Friday, and from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday.
How long are the lessons
and how often?
Most students attend 1/2 hour lessons once a
week. However, they can sign up for as many sessions as they would
like.
How
do I sign up and how do I pay?
You can enroll in our lesson office on the second
floor of Milano Music or you can sign up over the phone (480-833-2323).
You will need to pay for the first lesson when you sign up. After
the initial lesson, payments are made monthly. There is no contract. You can cancel or change teachers any time.
Do you have discount rates?
Our rates are discounted for multiple lessons
(more than 1/2 hour lesson per week). This discount also applies
to families with more than one member taking lessons.
Where are the lessons?
We are located in downtown Mesa. Our lessons
are at our two locations, 38 and 45 West
Main Street.
Do you give group lessons?
Over the years we have offered group lessons
and have found private lessons are the best value for the money.
Students are able to learn music they enjoy and progress at their
own rate. They are not held back by students whose ability isn't
as great, or who don't practice. In today's busy world, it is
so difficult to match students' schedules, parents' schedules,
ages, interests and goals.
How old should a child be
before he/she takes lessons?
Usually a child needs to be at least 4 or 5.
Some are ready, some are not at that age. The child should know
his colors, know left from right, and be able to pay attention
for a half hour lesson. Readiness mostly depends on attention
span. Most 6 year olds are ready to begin learning an instrument.
Can you teach people
who don't know anything about music?
We certainly can! That is what we're here for.
Music is for everyone. There isn't anyone who can't benefit from
taking music lessons. In fact, it's good to start with lessons
from the beginning to keep from acquiring bad habits that will
be hard to break later. We have students in their 80's, whose
only musical ability is whistling, that are now happily learning
one or multiple instruments.
